Tein kyberpunk -teemaisen valokuvan valmiiksi ja valokuvien pienentämistä verkkosivuja varten. Lupasin viime blogimerkinnässä vähän kuvamateriaalia kyberpunk -lookin tekemisestä, joten tässä tulee. Käytän tässä esimerkissä omaa kuvaani, sillä projektiin kuuluva kuvatiedosto on salainen. Ensin tehdään kuvan päälle Gradient layer, kuten alla olevassa videossa näkyy. Sitten säädetään Gradient niin että se siirtyy siististi sinisestä violettiin.

Lopuksi valitaan blending modeksi "soft light" ja opacity täytyy olla 70-80%. Tämä on kyberpunk -värimaailman perustaso. Mutta se ei vielä riitä. Lopullisen lookin saavuttamiseksi täytyy tehdä lukemattomía säätöjä lisää. En ala niitä kaikkia tässä luettelemaan mutta tuossa alla on screenshotit parista tekemästäni värisäädöstä. Periaatteessa kun toi perusvärimaailma on luoto Gradient layerilla, niin täytyy tehdä vielä Hue/Saturation layer ja säätää jokaisen värikanavan värit täysin uusiksi manuaalisesti liukusäätimillä. Niitä ei voi säätää ihan mihin vaan, vaan väriarvot on määriteltävä tarkasti noudattamaan sini-violettia skaalaa. Lopuksi täytyy käytttää vielä kontrastisäätöjä ja filttereitä. Eli todella suuri työmäärä tässä oli.

I finished the cyberpunk themed photo and made some additional images smaller so they can be used in the website. In my last blog entry I promised some video material and pictures of the editing process for documentation, so here we go. In this example I have used my own photo because the actual project is classified. First step is to apply a Gradient layer on top of the photo, as seen in the video below. Then it is necessary to edit the Gradient, so that it neatly and softly transfers from blue to purple. Once that is done, the Gradient layer's blending mode needs to be changed to "soft light" and the layer's opacity should be set to around 70-80%. These adjustments will give you the base color needed for a cyberpunk look.

But basic is still quite not enough. In order to achieve that retro cyberpunk vibe, numerous additional adjustments have to be made. I'm not gonna listen them all here because it is really such a long process. However, I have provided a couple of screenshots on some of the adjustments I've made. They are below the video. So when the basic colors have been created with Gradient, you need to make a hue/saturation adjustment layer and then redo all of the image's color channels from scratch, using the manual sliders. You can't just randomly move the sliders around though, you need to pick the correct values or at least close to correct, so that the adjustments fit into the basic blue-purple color scale. Finally, you need to adjust the contrast and apply a couple of filters. So like I said before, this kind of heavy editing requires a lot of working hours. It will easily take a whole workday or even more, if you want it to look perfect.
